Rev Andy’s Latest Discussions
Welcome to Rev Andy Books!
The website that does what it say on the tin. It is by Rev Andy, a retired vicar in Earls Court, London, who writes books.
What is this?
Here you will find a brief introduction to Rev Andy, access to his books, the latest news, and some thought-provoking blogs, with themes like “What does it mean to call Jesus ‘Son of God’?”; “Is there anything after death?” And “What about other faiths?”
Who am I?
I am an open-minded Christian. My Mum was a Quaker Anglican and my Dad an agnostic Jew. Both exceptionally honourable people. I went to Oxford University where I studied history. So I look at the Bible first of all as a historical document, some excellent history and some not so excellent. I believe that ‘God’ (not an easy word) is, as the poet Tennyson said, “closer than breathing, and nearer than hands a feet.” Jesus is a pretty impressive guy.
I became a vicar some 40 years ago and worked in parishes in south London. I retired in 2015 and have since written 8 books and am working on a couple more. My three most popular are on this page, the rest are on my shop button; and of course on Amazon. Two of them, Jesus the Troublemaker and Discovering Psalms as Prayer, are also on audio.
